Smoked Porter | 6.2% ABV | 30% IBU
Heavier on the caramel malt and lighter on the roast malt. 5% of the base malt is smoked in-house for a smoky complexity. And weighing in at 6.2% ABV it can also be your winter warmer.
This porter is more than you typical dark colored roasted beer. A complex combination of dark chocolate with notes of caramel, smoke and bitterness, this is the perfect beer with BBQ. The balance between smokiness, deep melanoidin flavors and bitterness resurfaces memories of great family BBQs and smoked meats. Although this makes the porter sound heavy, the body is on the medium side making it great year round.
Northbound came on the scene 2012 after crowd funding their way into production. The model worked and the brewery is now a proud winner of a Silver Medal in the World Beer Cup, one of the most prestigious beer competitions in the world. Unlike many other breweries in the Twin Cities, Northbound Smokehouse is truly a brew pub with a restaurant and full bar. Their Smokehouse Porter epitomizes Northbound Smokehouse, a great brewery with fantastic BBQ and a large whiskey selection- capturing the essence of smokey, grilled foods and pairing well crafted brews.
